Who is Walter J. Lindner?

The new German Ambassador to India is neither what you’d expect of a diplomat, nor of a German. He has had quite a colourful life so far, leading him from Jazz to Law, from Munich to Ankara, from Nicaragua to the USA, from Kenia to South Africa, and so it was only a question of time until he finally found his new home in one of the most colourful countries on the globe. However, Mr. Lindner is no stranger to “Incredible India”, as he states on the German Embassy’s website:

After traveling to India as a 20-year-old with a backpack and a lot of time, the country and its people have remained close to my heart. Everything has come full circle and now I can intensify the very close relations between our two countries.

Tying close relations by bringing people together seems to be Mr. Lindner’s credo, no wonder the Twitter community is charmed by his unconventional style and his delightful posts: Cheering for the Indian Cricket Team, showing his love for chocolate and music or taking selfies with his Hindi teacher – who couldn’t relate?
