On the occasion of Gandhi-Mandela Peace Event, which took place from July 11 to 13 in Delhi and aimed to commemorate and celebrate 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi and 100 years of Nelson Mandela, BW Businessworld’s Manish Kumar Jha had the chance to interview Walter J. Lindner. The German Ambassador to India, who used to be the Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, to the Kingdom of Lesotho, and to the Kingdom of Swaziland, was invited as a panelist.
The event “began with a concert from Grammy Award winning artist and environmentalist Ricky Kej. To everyone’s surprise, he invited Ambassador Lindner on stage to perform a song with him. The dignitary surprised everyone with his masterful performance on the flute, contributing to the wonderful melodies of Kej and company.” [BW Businessworld]Â
In his interview with BW Businessworld Ambassador Lindner talked about how Germany see Gandhi and Mandela, environmental challenges, and Indo-German relations:
Germany is famous for its engineering and technological capacity, and we are ready to help wherever we can by helping find alternatives that can help alleviate the [climate] crisis to a great extent.Â
PM Modi is focused on improving investment numbers in the country, and that is what German companies want to hear. PM Modi and Chancellor Merkel are on great terms and they constantly talk about how India and Germany can improve trade relations.
