Yes, thanks to Kolkata-based Startup Dabadigo it is now possible to rent (and ride!) electric scooters without possessing a driver’s licence. Dabadigo-founder Basabjeet (Jijo) Nag explains, how it works: “We did some research and found out that only 16 % of India actually has a driver’s licence. We did a little bit more research and found out that electric scooters where the speed is kept at 25km/h don’t require a driver’s licence to ride.”
The scooters are an easy and green option, available to everyone via app, and are meant to help with last-mile connectivity.
