Martin Schwenk is a true-blue expat, with his job taking him to Germany, the US, Austria and South Africa. Currently he calls India his home, as he has been India-head of German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz since November 1st, 2018. Asked about working in and adjusting to different places, Schwenk told livemint: “Before you move, your perception is made by the press, photos, people around you. I have always found the reality very different when you actually start living in the place.”
Schwenk, who began his career at Daimler in 1992 through the Mercedes-Benz Trainee Programme, has an engineering degree from the University of Stuttgart [The Economic Times India].
The 53-year-old German moved with his wife to Pune in late 2018. Their three children study in universities around the world, but technology helps the family stay in constant touch with each other.
