Get ready for Oktoberfest season!

More than a “beer-festival”

The legendary Oktoberfest in Munich is the world’s largest “Volksfest”, a term often translated to “beer-festival” – although it is much more than that. A Volksfest (litteraly “people’s festival”) is a large event which usually combines a beer- or wine festival and a travelling funfair. Attractions may include amusement rides, games of chance and skill, and food and merchandise vendors. [Wikipedia]

Being the largest of its kind, the Munich Oktoberfest attracts millions of tourists every year and has achieved a good reputation all over the world – so much so that meanwhile there are Oktoberfest celebrations in every corner of the planet, and India is no exception.

India’s Oktoberfests: Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru

This year, the Mumbai Oktoberfest will celebrate its 10th birthday with a bang: Organised by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and supported by the German Consulate, the Oktoberfest is accompanied by the “German Days 3.0”, a two day family fun carnival weekend at Mahalaxmi Racecourse (October 12th and 13th 2019).

The 11th edition of Pune Oktoberfest is – yet again – going to be a three day celebration of German culture, music, tradition and, of course, beer. The much awaited event will take place at RWITC Racecourse from October 18th to 20th.

The Bengaluru Oktoberfest will start the season off on September 20th to 22nd with German live band ‘The Derby’s’ straight from Munich.
