As you’re reading this, the connections between India and Germany are growing: The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, the German Missions in India, the Indian Embassy and its Consulates in Germany, the various Goethe institutes (called “Max Mueller Bhavan” in India), and the multitude of NGOs and Indo-German associations are surely bringing the two countries closer together on an economic, political and cultural level.
But what is it actually that makes a country? Is it its borders? Its government? Its institutions?
We believe that a nation mainly consists of its people.
Therefore, in order to maintain good relations between countries, it is indispensable to establish, uphold and strengthen good relations between their people and to develop a sense of empathy for each other. Only then will political, economic and cultural relations peacefully sustain.
How we see the world largely depends on what we think to know about it.
Getting to know each other is the first step on a long path that leads towards a better understanding and a more discerning approach to our reality. There are many ways to do that: talking to each other, traveling, meditating, moving to a different place… For this blog, we’ve chosen one of the easiest and most convenient ways to explore new things: via media.
Learning about the many ways in which Germany and India are currently working together, the multiple connections that already exist, and new initiatives that are beeing undertaken, will hopefully make people from both countries feel closer to each other.
Yet, amidst the plethora of content on the net, it is easy not to see the wood for the trees.
That’s why we’ve decided to create a place where – day by day and little by little – Indo-German content will be featured, contextualized and explained: Welcome to the Indo-German Newsblog!
